John McGrath
John McGrath is considered one of the most influential figures in the Australian property industry. As Chief Executive of McGrath Estate Agents, he took the company from a start-up in 1988 to one of Australia’s most successful residential real estate groups, selling $5.7 billion in residential property in Sydney in FY11.

A total solution company, McGrath Estate Agents currently has offices located throughout Sydney, the Central and North Coasts, Southern Highlands, the Blue Mountains, Wollongong, Canberra (ACT) and the Gold Coast (QLD), as part of its growing franchise network.

In October 2008, he was honoured by the Real Estate Institute of NSW with the Woodrow Weight OBE Award, a lifetime achievement award for his outstanding contribution to the real estate industry.

John himself has become a spokesperson for the industry both in Australia and internationally. John has five books that have reached bestseller status including “You Don’t Have To Be Born Brilliant” and “You Inc.”. In “The Ultimate Guide to Real Estate”, John shares with the reader his invaluable knowledge on the Australian property market.

Mat Steinwede
Meeting Mat you will understand why he has been ranked the number one agent for the Raine and Horne network for 3 consecutive years and he is consistently ranked in the top 5 for the McGrath network.

He is 6′ 4′ tall and exudes energy that is contagious.
It hasn’t been plain sailing for Mat, anything but…

Mat was a bouncer on Oxford Street for many years and eventually ended up living on the streets homeless before coming to the Coast. With massive personal obstacles to overcome he decided to clean himself up and make something of himself.

Applying for jobs in different real estate agencies across the Central Coast area, one company finally gave him a go!
There was one interesting thing here though, Mat didn’t have a car and he had a number of warrants out for his arrest.

Being blessed with a job Mat borrowed some clothes from a friend and was told to door knock – which is what he did each day on foot come rain, hail or shine.

Mat bought his first car approx 10 months into his real estate career. At this stage he handed himself over to the police. Because the judge saw that he was making an effort and progressing in life he gave him a second chance, which meant he only had to serve community service for a year instead of a jail sentence

Thankful for his new start, Mat made a commitment to himself… to be the No1 agent in Australia.

There have been many bumps along the way and Mat is very open about sharing his experiences but one thing that does make him different from the pack is he is prepared to do whatever it takes to be the best.

His client service is probably rated the best in Australia and his philosophy is simple, “no one will do it for you”.

Since making that decision to turn his life around approximately 12 years ago he has worked hard to keep moving in the right direction.

10 years ago he bought a small Raine and Horne office with Jaimie Woodcock who is still his partner today and about 3 years ago Mat & Jaimie were offered the first McGrath franchise, which they converted to immediately when the opportunity arose.

Mat & Jaimie have since opened their second McGrath office and are continually learning how to become better sales people and business owners.

Mat considers two of his greatest achievements as having his four kids and marrying his wife Shelley.

He says, “everyone has the right to succeed; it’s all about making the choice to do so and keeping your eye on your goal. That’s the key!”

Mat has built 2 mutliple seven figure real estate careers in two seperate areas, proving the system he is going to share with you is NO FLUKE.

Chris Gilmour
